Overview
Autopromotec is the largest and most important automotive trade show in Italy, held at the Bologna Trade Fair Center in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Blue Print, the leading brand for Asian and American automotive parts, required a 20 square metre stand and various promotional material for the show.
What We Did
The Project
Working with a stand builder, from the brief we decided upon the best type of stand to suit the client’s needs.
Modular stands are built from a kit which can be easily customised and printed on, or adapted to fit different plot areas. They are generally constructed in panels that affix together making transportation in crates easy and cost-effective. The initial cost is high but can be used many times with a low running cost. Modular is generally the more cost-effective option when a stand is used for more than five shows. The main disadvantage to a modular stand is that the freedom for design is more limited.

Bespoke stands are completely unique and the possibilities for design are vast. If well-designed there is little risk of any other stand at the show looking similar. Bespoke stands generally allow for minor alterations on site. The disadvantages are that you would need to occupy the same size area at each show to reuse the stand and it is more difficult to store and transport. It is also more delicate than a modular stand and would deteriorate more between shows through wear and tear.
The final option is to build a bespoke stand for single use, known as ‘build and burn’. Compared to a reusable bespoke stand, a build and burn is cheaper to produce as it doesn’t need to be as durable. However, it is difficult to justify all the pre-production costs for just one show.

Because different aspects of the brand would be represented at future events, the agreed stand for this show was a bespoke ‘build and burn’.
Being a bespoke stand gave us plenty of design flexibility. We worked on various designs before deciding on a clear favourite to submit for approval. The design was quickly approved by both the client and the stand builder, from which they supplied a quote. The design we came up with was a totally new look for Blue Print, the design represented their Japanese specialism and iconic colours in a really eye-catching way. So much so in fact that after the show Blue Print adopted the design as their corporate identity for all their promotional material.

Once approved we worked with the stand builder to build the stand to our specification. The project took four months to complete but the finished article looked fantastic as you can see. The show was a huge success and our stand attracted lots of desirable attention.
