What We Did
The Project
The page plan had been agreed and most of the copy had been written before we started work – although some of the copy was to be inspired from the design.

In addition to the design of the content, the magazine needed a new cover, logo and folio design. The minimalist style logo we decided on and full-bleed cover gives the magazine a really fresh, modern look. The magazine contents running parallel with the spine and a bold headline for the cover story leave plenty of room for a strong cover image to catch the readers attention. Not just for this issue but also as a template for future issues. As this was a special edition we allowed extra budget for a metallic ink on the cover. The silver ink on the headline and logo looked fantastic on the finished article as it shined in the light.

This edition also saw the launch of a new microsite to support the magazine which meant that QR codes were introduced in this issue. QR codes are similar to barcodes in that they store data in a series of shapes, but QR codes can hold different types of data – such as a web address or phone number. Most smartphones can read QR codes and this allows the reader to get more information or enter a competition after reading a printed publication.
